A beauty from Carbonnieux, the 2005 has a dense ruby/purple color and a sweet nose of charcoal embers, smoke, graphite, black cherry and blackcurrant fruit. It is medium to full-bodied, pure and lush as well as beautifully textured and long. This wine is just entering its plateau of maturity and should hang there for at least another two decades.
Bright ruby red in color, this wine is dominated by complex aromas evoking violet, plum, blackberry jam, rhubarb, spices and graphite on the nose. Incredibly rich and soft in the mouth, it has good balance between texture and acidity with fine tannins and a long, spicy finish.
The attractive earthy, floral, red currant, and raspberry notes are impressively intense and complex in the aromatics. This dark ruby/purple-tinged wine displays elegance, finesse, and a beautiful mouthfeel in a restrained, moderately intense, but still classic style with sweet tannins. Tobacco, cedar, earth, and red and black fruits are prominent in both the aromas and the flavors. This wine can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 years.

Nose of red fruits is paired with some dusty notes of an Old World style. With hints of spice and redcurrant, there is no evident oak and gentle savoury edges. The palate is still tightly structured, with almost tart red fruits. Plenty of grippy tannins means it will go for the long haul in the cellar.
